Outcome

Supporting the broader AUKUS strategy, we were engaged to undertake a broad scale baseline site contamination investigation and hazardous ground gas assessment as part of the Osborne North Land Use Strategy works. The project includes the potential expansion of the Osborne Naval Shipyard, which currently extends across more than 100 hectares of the Le Fevre Peninsula, to support the construction of nuclear powered submarines under the AUKUS agreement. The potential expansion area covers more than 54 hectares of additional land, comprising 23 individually titled properties. Each property was subject to a tailored intrusive investigation and sampling program, based on a review of its ownership and use history to identify potentially contaminating activities and contaminants of potential concern. Our work has ultimately supported the broader development approvals program.
