Contaminated Land Management, PFAS Investigation, Management, and Remediation

Outcome

As the PFAS Lead Consultant, we have undertaken various environmental investigations to supplement previous PFAS contamination investigations across Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Amberley and surrounding areas, to inform the management and remediation actions to address PFAS contamination risks. This has included targeted PFAS mass flux assessments, the development and implementation of a revised PFAS Management Area Plan, ongoing on-base and off-base monitoring programs (including biota sampling), and the provision of advice on potentially suitable risk management and remediation options for each key source area. We also led a collaborative program incorporating community consultation to develop a sampling plan targeting PFAS concentrations in aquatic biota within publicly accessible surface water areas. The program identified key species caught for human consumption, seasonal variations, and exposure pathways affecting both humans and the environment.
