JBS&G, a Geosyntec Company, has provided BHP Billiton Iron Ore independent third-party review or contaminated site auditor services in relation to iron ore mining and processing facilities across Western Australia, including Mount Whaleback, Nelson Point, Finucane Island, and Boodarie Rail Depot. These audits have required the consideration of a range of contamination issues in the context of active mining operations and long-term mine closure planning. Though the contamination issues have predominantly related to historical petroleum storage facilities, other contamination issues have also been of relevance. These issues have included naturally occurring methane, former landfills, metals, and emerging contaminants.
