Claire Miller

Claire Miller is a Principal Hydrogeologist with more than 20 years of experience focused on investigating contaminated sites. Claire supports clients in the aviation, oil & gas, transportation, manufacturing, energy, waste, and mining sectors, delivering complex fieldwork, data management, and technical reporting in line with Australian national and state environmental regulations and guidelines. On their behalf, she often assesses per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), chlorinated solvents, and petroleum hydrocarbons.

As a result of undertaking numerous groundwater risk assessments earlier in her career and having a background in geology, Claire is adept at creating robust hydrogeological conceptual site models for contaminated sites with complex issues and large historical datasets, primarily for clients in the oil & gas and manufacturing sectors. She particularly enjoys working under the Victorian regulatory framework. Examples of her work in Victoria include spearheading key audit deliverables for a large former gasworks site, a former fuel bulk storage and chemical handling facility, and a former manufacturer of acids, fertiliser, inorganics, and organic chemicals.

During her career in Australia, Claire has worked on projects in Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales.

In service to her profession, Claire serves on the Groundwater Fate and Transport Special Interest Group of the Australian Land and Groundwater Association, is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London, and is a member of the International Association of Hydrogeologists. She has presented at multiple conferences on topics including the characterisation of dense nonaqueous-phase liquids (DNAPL) and passive sampling for PFAS.
