Dogus Meric helps clients deliver effective, implementable, and economical solutions tailored to achieve their objectives and to win stakeholder and regulatory acceptance. He develops and leads multidisciplinary teams to solve complex problems from early planning to design, construction, and closure. He has pioneered new sediment remediation technologies such as in-situ stabilization/solidification (ISS) of subaqueous sediments and thin-layer sediment capping. He has led the early planning, design, and on-site construction support of first-to-field full-scale mass-mixing ISS remediation project in the world, which was completed ahead of schedule, under budget and received regulatory approval for closure. He also led the risk management measure design effort for the largest urban waterfront development project in North America by integrating tailored environmental solutions to facilitate construction of a new naturalized river valley in a legacy industrial land.
To advance the state of the practice, Dogus is the co-author of ASTM International standard guidance document on corrective action objectives on sediment sites. Dogus also served on the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource (WDNR) External Advisory Group for contaminated sediments. He has authored a number of articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented his work in national and international conferences. He was an invited speaker at the American Chemical Society Fall meeting to present his work on the use of thin-layer reactive cap applications in sediment sites. In 2020, Kendall Bay sediment remediation project earned the Edison Award for “Sustainable Change for the Good”.
